Apprenticeships are where you “earn while you learn”. Majority of the training is “on-the-job”. On completion apprentices gain one or more national certificates and become qualified in the associated trade. In New Zealand currently there is a high demand for apprentices in a range of different industries.


Industry Training Providers (ITOs) are organisations set up to oversee apprenticeships in NZ.  There are 11 of these and each organises and evaluates training for a number of different but linked industries.  You can check which ITO covers which industry here
